Countries, several non-for-profit organisations(NGOs) and women themselves have come forward to help the women realise their full potential and live a more productive and respectful life.<\/p>\n<p>According to UN Women, females serve as Heads of State or Government in only 22 countries, and 119 countries have never had a female leader. At the current rate, gender equality in the highest positions of power will not be reached for another 130 years.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong><em>Why have women been considered unfit for public life?\u00a0\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Women are said as weak physically and mentally. It&#8217;s because they lie within the four boundaries of the house. These prejudices have been used since ancient times.<\/li>\n<li>They are discouraged from going to work.\u00a0 The men think it brings disrespect to the family.<\/li>\n<li>Safety is another issue that hinders women to participate in political affairs.<\/li>\n<li>If a female is part of the government,\u00a0 the scenario is totally different.<\/li>\n<li>Education is the main emancipator, and girls are discouraged to go to school and higher institutions.<\/li>\n<li>Men show hesitation to accept them in governing positions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><em><strong>How women&#8217;s participation can be increased in political affairs?<\/strong><\/em><\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Change of mindset towards women&#8217;s capability. They are considered incapable of taking important decisions.<\/li>\n<li>Re-interpretation of cultural and religious texts in the light of current developments in the world.<\/li>\n<li>Females need a safe environment to work comfortably.<\/li>\n<li>Removal of prejudices against their problem-solving ability.<\/li>\n<li>They should be educated so that they can know about their rights.<\/li>\n<li>Political parties should give them reservations out of a total number of seats.<\/li>\n<li>Socialisation should be done to encourage siblings(boys and girls) to share power at all levels.<\/li>\n<li>Use of rationalism and reason before coming to any conclusion.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>Women fulfil their responsibilities towards their family and society with perfection.
