Today I could talk about its wonderful gastronomy, its smiling and colorful people. It could be an invitation to know this magical country. However, today I am here to tell you the sad story that my country is going through. Because yes, I am Venezuelan, part of a significant number of citizens who had to leave the country.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And it is that the number of Venezuelans who have left the Latin country is the second in number after Syria. That&#8217;s right, the Syrian refugee crisis is well known around the world. So far, 13 million Syrians have fled their homes to save their lives.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><b>The Emigration<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But let&#8217;s go back to the issue that brought us here today, at the end of 2020, it was estimated that 6.5 million Venezuelans would have left their country. Most of these Venezuelans have emigrated to Latin American and Caribbean countries, logically due to their geographical proximity.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-6534 lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/mozartcultures.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/emigracion-Vzla-292x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"292\" height=\"300\" data-srcset=\"https:\/\/mozartcultures.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/emigracion-Vzla-292x300.jpg 292w, https:\/\/mozartcultures.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/emigracion-Vzla-996x1024.jpg 996w, https:\/\/mozartcultures.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/emigracion-Vzla-768x790.jpg 768w, https:\/\/mozartcultures.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/emigracion-Vzla-1494x1536.jpg 1494w, https:\/\/mozartcultures.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/emigracion-Vzla.jpg 1920w\" data-sizes=\"(max-width: 292px) 100vw, 292px\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 292px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 292\/300;\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Many families have been dismembered to survive an unparalleled economic crisis. At least, one of the members of the Venezuelan <\/span><b>families <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">has had to leave the country, to work and send money to their relatives who remain in the country. Institutional violence, the political crisis, and a continuous violation of human rights by the regime that has held power since 1999 have managed to generate the largest <\/span><b>exodus <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in recent <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">American <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">history. While it is true that the displaced crisis has worsened in recent years, from around 2002 people began to leave <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Venezuela <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">due to the growing crisis.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><b>Chavism<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Is a long time since Venezuela has been at the hands of <\/span><b>Chavism<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, a movement whose name originates from the then leader of the project, <\/span><b>Hugo Chav\u00e9z<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. It is impossible to understand in a few lines what has happened, to one of the richest countries in<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Latin America<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. With the largest oil reserves in the world, the booming oil industry in 1999, gas reserves, gold, bauxite, among other natural resources. But the destruction has not stopped since <\/span><b>day one<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of the beginnings of the late <\/span><b>Hugo Chav\u00e9z<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in power and continues today at the hands of <\/span><b>Nicol\u00e1s Maduro<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, current Chavista ruler.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A movement that began with a <\/span><b>coup d&#8217;\u00e9tat <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">orchestrated by this military man, <\/span><b>Hugo Chav\u00e9z<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and that later would lead to democratic and free elections won in 1998. The ideology of <\/span><b>Chavism <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">is an <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">amorphous object<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and difficult to explain. With a marked <\/span><b>authoritarian character<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and an <\/span><b>aberrant submission to Cuba<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, they make it not only difficult to frame, but also to understand. As we know, the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cuban Revolution<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> has been in power for 62 years, with a <\/span><b>left-wing<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> movement that assumed power in an authoritarian manner, which has led to the destruction of this <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Caribbean<\/span><\/i> <i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">island<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><b>Leaving Venezuela<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Stories of Venezuelans leaving their country across its borders are often <\/span><b>sad<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and fraught with <\/span><b>danger<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. With <\/span><b>poverty <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">above 96%, it is difficult to think of a healthy and orderly emigration. The poverty, that before <\/span><b>Chavismo <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">reached approximately 44%. Desolate stories of <\/span><b>Venezuelans <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">can be found walking through the <\/span><b>Colombian moorlands <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">without coats, with children and a suitcase, to try to reach other destinations in <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">South America<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, such as Peru, Ecuador, Chile, or Argentina. Or of little boats that are shipwrecked in the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Caribbean Sea<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> trying to reach the coasts of the islands closest to <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Venezuela<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-6535 alignright lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/mozartcultures.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/pasaportes-1-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" data-srcset=\"https:\/\/mozartcultures.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/pasaportes-1-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/mozartcultures.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/pasaportes-1-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/mozartcultures.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/pasaportes-1.jpg 960w\" data-sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 300px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 300\/200;\" \/>In many cases, these people do not have an identity passport, which makes the insertion of this migrant into the host country&#8217;s system much more difficult. And it is that the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Venezuelan State<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> does not guarantee the <\/span><b>identity <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">of its citizens even though it is declared in its <\/span><b>Constitution<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Delays and exorbitant payments (due to corruption) of the identity paper make it very difficult for people who cannot even afford to feed their family well in one day.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With a monthly <\/span><b>minimum wage<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that does not reach the value of <\/span><b>one (1) US dollar<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the highest <\/span><b>inflation <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">world <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">of 3.684%, and a dollarized economy, it is almost impossible to think that <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Venezuelans <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">will not leave their country en masse. Besides all this alarming data, there is the fact that <\/span><b>Nicol\u00e1s Maduro<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is the only president in office who has been accused of <\/span><b>crimes against humanity<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Report that was carried out by a <\/span><b>UN <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">commission and released in 2020.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-6536 lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/mozartcultures.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/migrantes-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"283\" height=\"178\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 283px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 283\/178;\" \/>But with all this terrifying data, what is the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">international community<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and relevant <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">institutions <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">like the <\/span><b>UN <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">doing? Not much has changed in <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Venezuela<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, neighboring countries are the ones that have perceived the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Venezuelan <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">crisis the most. The greatest weight has fallen on <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Colombia<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the neighboring country has received most of the Venezuelan migrants, with the creation of refugee camps it has been supported by UNHCR. Different countries have contributed money for humanitarian aid, through different organizations. However, what reaches <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Venezuela <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">is minimal, since there is <\/span><b>corruption <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and an effort to cause the greatest <\/span><b>possible suffering<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to the already battered <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Venezuelan <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">population.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Venezuelan <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">conflict still needs to be resolved, so the departure of Venezuelans will continue to occur, with each day that the <\/span><b>Chavist <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">regime remains in the hands of <\/span><b>Nicolas Maduro<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> now, this terrible conflict that afflicts the entire <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">American continent <\/span><\/i><b>will not be resolved<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.
