Coffee lovers! A place you can’t miss on your next holiday!

Chemex? Barista? Americano? If these terms are close to your heart and you can’t imagine your life without your daily caffeine fix, then I invite you to Turin.

If you have not been paying a lot of attention when either buying coffee in a store or getting it from your local café, then it might be news to you that the history of Italian coffee is closely connected with the history of Turin.

Just like Milan is the house of Armani and Florence is Gucci’s birthplace, one of Torino’s pride is Lavazza. It was Luigi Lavazza who in 1895 opened his first shop in the city, offering coffee and trying to blend different beans to extract the best flavours that would be appreciated by very demanding Italian palate.

Luigi Lavazza, however, wasn’t just a salesman. The whole family and the following generations devoted their life to understanding, developing, researching, improving coffee production and married a daily coffee habit with culture, art, and the Italian culture.

The whole Lavazza complex is situated in Aurora District of Turin – neglected a few decades ago, with run-down factory buildings that have been regaining their status thanks to many improvements, such as the building of the museum located in the Nuovola [cloud] building.
