10 Life Guard Quotes of Socrates

Who is Socrates?

The word “philosopher” is the combination of the Greek words philei and sophia. This word means “friend of knowledge and wisdom” and then “who gives life  knowledge, who questions it”.

Socrates was a Greek philosopher from Athens, and he was one of the founders of both Western philosophy and moral philosophy. Throughout his life, therefore, he runs after ethics and epistemology.

One of the most prominent events of Socrates’ life was the lawsuit against him in 399 BC. He was accused of not believing the gods of the city (Zeus probably must have cried.), thus poisoning the youth. As a result of these charges, he got capital punishment.

Although he remains an enigmatic figure, he left no writings. Therefore, most of his teachings are known from the writings of his students, particularly Plato and Xenophon. After his death, Plato wrote a book named “The Apology of Socrates.”

Today we write an amazing collection of Socrates quotes that will help you know yourself better, and enjoy while reading!
