About Vincent van Gogh’s Paintings

Popular paintings

Spring Garden – Van Gogh

An interesting case happened this year on  van Gogh’s birthday. On the birthday of the painter, his artwork “Spring Garden” in the Singer Laren Museum was stolen on the 167th anniversary of  van Gogh’s birthday. As a fan after Monet, I wanted to write about Vincent van Gogh’s paintings. As a painter, he expresses himself with his pictures and was never fully understood, whose only friend was his brother.

Wheatfield with Crows -Van Gogh

Maybe “Wheat Field and Crows” is my favourite painting.  We can understand from the intonations of his painting that his depressive side has reached the highest. The crows started to flay and that fine path might have drawn his own final path, who knows. This painting is on display in the Van Gogh museum, and is probably the last painting he made before his death.

Starry Night – Van Gogh

Another known most popular painting is Starry Night on the Rhone. This is a night view of the beach, a few minutes from the Yellow House where he stayed in Arles.  The painting, which evokes the feeling that it is one of the most beautiful nights of September, is on display at the Musée d’Orsay. He describes it as “Yellow and deep blue at night. The stars are like gold ingots glowing in the dark.”

Green Wheat Field with Cypresses – Van Gogh

Van Gogh has a special interest not only in wheat fields but also in cypresses. We can interpret that he is trying to catch the eternity and peace with the cypresses reaching to the sky. Van Gogh, who sees and reflects the world differently from us, painted the most beautiful cypress in the “Green Wheat Field with Cypresses”.

One of the most confusing pictures he created is “Prisoners’ Round”. The most important reason for this is that this painting is inspired by Gustave Doré. Van Gogh made this picture when he was in the lunatic asylum, and it is said that Van Gogh managed to calm his illness by drawing.

Van Gogh’s admiration for Monet is always ignored. However, like Monet’s gardens, Van Gogh also had many gardens. Both painters are considered to be impressionists but in my opinion, the idea that Van Gogh belongs to a movement should be discussed.

Van Gogh, in every detail, must represent hope and resistance for us. We welcome you to MozarCultures’s “Art” page, not just about Van Gogh but for anyone interested in art.
