Famous Church Of Sicily?

The Church of San Bartolomeo is located in Ragusa, Sicily. Between two hills, the Church and the natural environment surrounding it create an incredible landscape and unseen beauty of the nature. Thanks to the work of “Salvatore Ali” who, showing his creativity, built it during 15th century. It was the only structure to resist the earthquake of 1693, which makes it most admirable building in the Sicilian Area.

Exterior of Building

Its Architectural style is one of the fascinating example of Neoclassical Baroque. The Church has an impressive façade which is divided into three orders, the top of it is constituted by bell cell. The building is enriched by numerous statues and precious art, as well as a very light color of entire structure: inside and outside. There is a single nave with the classic Latin cross composition. The artwork of the church makes its interior scenography.

Ancient painting in Church

There is an important painting representing the Martyrdom of St. Bartholomew, made by Francesco Pascucci (1779). Among the most prestigious works, there is certainly an ancient Wooden Nativity scene. Over the Decades, the Church has undergone several improvements and restorations, which have preserved its coherence.

It is easy to track down the Church of San Bartolomeo in the heart of the historic center of Sicily. It gives always a sense of peace to visit a historical building where you can connect your soul. Visiting hours of the Church are Monday to Sunday.
