Historical Firsts Ever

Although we never thought about it, many of the things we know today have a beginning in history. Let’s see when the 10 things that exist today were first done in history:

1.First concert in history: the English violinist John Banister

Although it was not recorded that there were official concerts until the end of the 17th century, similar events were held at some universities in Europe (such as Cambridge and Oxford). The first recorded concert in history was a classical music concert given in London by John Banister in 1672.

2.The first known song in history: by the Sumerians  

According to the discovery made by researcher archaeologists in the 1950s, the first song in history was written by the Sumerians about 3,300 years ago. It is a religious hymn following a 7-note diatonic scale, and if you want to take a look, you can check out the link below:

3.The first dessert in history: Dried Fruit and Honey

It is said that dried fruits with honey were very first used in Mesopotamia and Ancient India, for important people and citizens.

4.The first known resume in history

The first person to write a resume in history: Leonardo da Vinci.  To win the support of the Duke of Milan, Da Vinci wrote a letter to the Duke in 1482, that he described his talents and experiences.

5. The first known marriage in history 

The first recorded evidence of marriage ceremonies between a woman and a man is found in Mesopotamia.  It dates back to around 2350 BC. The main purpose of this ceremony was to connect women to men and thus guarantee that a man’s children were indeed his biological heirs.

6.The world’s first pharmacy

The world’s first pharmacy was established in Baghdad in 754. During this period, advances in Botany and chemistry in the Middle East also led to the development of pharmacology to a large extent. In the 12th century, pharmacy-like shops began to appear in Europe.

7.World’s first engineer: Imhotep 

Imhotep lived in ancient Egypt, apart from engineering, besides engineering, he held the titles of authorship, doctor, and architecture. He is also the first known doctor in history.  His most famous work is the Pyramid of Djoser, one of the oldest surviving monuments in the world.

8.First sport in history: Wrestling

Wrestling is currently the oldest known sport. We can also see this sport in wall drawings made centuries ago. This sport was introduced to the ancient Olympics in 708 BC.

9.First GumEver Made

The history of chewing gum is thought to be 9,000 years old. Archaeologists think that humans used wood resin to form pellets to clean their teeth or for medical reasons. The first thing to be chewed as gum is unknown, but in 1848, John B. Curtis, after two years of work, sold chewing gum made from the resin of the spruce tree as a commercial product

10.First Alcohol

Alcohol is one of the things that enter people’s lives with the settled life. The first beer was made 8 thousand years ago when the Mesopotamians fermented the barley they used to make bread.
