POWER NAP: TAKE ONE, INTENSIFY YOUR DAY (DR. OZ)

20 minutes and then, your day will be exquisitely ravishing, productive, and creative. (These classy  words are some benefits of the power nap!)

What happens to your body when you sleep? | The Independent | The Independent

When we are sleeping, we go through stages of sleep. These are divided into 2 main categories; non-REM sleep, and REM sleep. Non-REM sleep has 3 stages:

Stage 1 is the beginning of the sleep cycle and is a relatively light stage of sleep. Stage 1 can be considered a transition period between wakefulness and sleep.

Stage 2 is the second stage of sleep and lasts for approximately 20 minutes. The brain begins to produce rhythmic brain wave activity known as sleep spindles. Body temperature starts to decrease and heart rate begins to slow.

Stage 3 (the last stage before REM sleep) is referred to as the Delta sleep. Muscles are relaxed, blood pressure and breathing rate drop. Hence, it is the deepest sleep in all stages.

REM sounds like it is straight out of the computer hardware but actually is your internal software. Without days of  REM sleep, our system crashes and you become un muerto.

REM= Rapid Eye Movement

Go next to one of your friends then follow my lead, close your eyes and look around, rapidly. The image they saw will be intriguing. This happens ten times higher in your REM sleep phase.

REM sleep happens 90 minutes after you fall asleep. The first period of REM typically lasts about  10 minutes. Each of your later REM stages gets longer, and the final one may last up to an hour. Your heart rate and breathing increase heavily, as you go to sleep deliberately…

Getting good sleep is critical for maintaining the day. We should all get 7-9 hours of sleep a night, says Dr. Oz. Nevertheless, that’s sometimes difficult. Excessively, 90 minutes or more to get you in a crucial state of your sleeping, Salvador Dali, Einstein, Ludwig van Beethoven and many more found a solution for being tired. It is called a power nap.

Power napping consists of a very short period of sleep. It is the equivalence of non-REM sleep, stage 1. Dr. Oz declares that the most optimal naping time is 20 mins. In 20 minutes, your body will be energized and charged for you to be more mindful throughout your day. Simply lie down, set your alarm to 20-25 minutes then relax. Surely the benefits may change via person because we are so unique. Just a reminder that you are what you love not who loves you. Let’s get back to the subject.

Dr.Oz implies a life hack called NAPUCCINO. Before the nap, take a shot of coffee. It may seem counterintuitive;  the reality is, the caffeine in coffee has a meaningful impact on your body in 30 mins. After the nappucino, you should feel 2 times energized compared to the mighty power nap.
