Should you buy a lot of presents this Christmas?

As the winter holidays are approaching, so is the need to buy presents for our closer ones, but is it a good idea? Should you buy a lot of gifts this Christmas?

Christmas trends around the world.

In many countries of the world, it is a tradition to buy presents to share with family and friends for Christmas.

According to reports, only last year 4 Americans every 10 have spent so much money for presents to get in debt. The same can be said only about 1 European every 10.

Apparently, in the Old Continent the British spend the most. Follow them the Germans, the French, and the Italians.

Even though so many presents are bought every year, a good amount of them gets brought back to the stores.

In fact, it is not strange to buy already owned things or to fail that difficult game that it is to guess someone’s desires.

Of course, the kids are the more demanding and their parents spend the most in order to make them happy.

The adults are interested in luxury brands, a market that keeps growing every year, no matter the crisis.

Time to change our Christmas ways

Times change and we should adopt new, more sustainable ways to enjoy holidays in a positive way for both our finances and our planet.

Check the things in your house: how much stuff that you own could make someone else happy but not you?

This is to say that you can gift used items instead of disposing of them if they’re in a good state, giving them a new life and letting you save money at the same time.

Similarly don’t forget that you can recycle the packages many times. You can re-use paper bags to put in its gifts and in the coming years hopefully your friends will donate them to someone else again.

Even better, you can use old clothes to make trendy tote bags to wrap up your presents. The wrapping itself will be a delightful surprise.
