The port city and architectural paradise in the Netherlands- Rotterdam

I could not contain my excitement to explore the city of Rotterdam. Every detail that I read about how the Dutch city was turned into ashes during World War II as in many other European cities like Paris or London.

The city center is very clean and the people are friendly. The old “Oude Hoogstraat” (Old High Street) is one of my favorite streets in the city and it has a lot of restaurants and pubs and also many vintage shops. The street with all the pubs and restaurants is always crowded in the evening and there is a lot of noise.

I love the city center and its people. The street with vintage shops makes it a place to be visited by all fashion freaks like me :). My favorite place in Rotterdam is “Willemspark” which is located nearby the “Old City” area of the city center. This park has a lot of gardens, houses, sculptures, ponds, bridges, etc. The city has so much to offer to its residents or visitors.

The Willemspark is an amazing place to sit back and relax in the summer, with its grassy lawns, walkways, and fountains. The park reminds me of lush green parks in Japan with its huge trees and water features.

The Willemspark is surrounded by many historical buildings which are used for Rotterdam’s city council headquarters, a courthouse, a high school, a police station, etc. The park is well connected to the center of Rotterdam via metro rail route C which makes it easy to reach from the center.

The historical museum in Rotterdam called “Kijk-Kubus” was shut down for renovation so I could not check it out but will next time I am here again.
