Marigold Flower And Its Benefits
Marigold flower scientifically known as Tagetes erecta L. is an herbaceous plant belonging to the Aster family (Asteraceae ⁄ Compositae) that can be found anywhere on this earth. These flowers are easy to grow, bloom consistently, and are resistant to insects and diseases. Marigolds are used to treat a variety of ailments, including headaches, swelling, toothaches, cuts, and a variety of skin conditions.
Marigolds were said to have originated in Egypt and were first introduced to Britain and other countries by the Romans. Marigold was one of the first flowers to be cultivated. The petals of this flower were used by the ancient Greeks for make-up, food coloring (stews, soups, puddings, etc.), dying fabric, and various medicinal purposes.
Health benefits of Marigold flowers
1.Cancer protection
Marigolds contain antioxidants that aid in the fight against cancer. The effects of lutein, which is an antioxidant derived from marigolds, on breast cancer tumors were studied by researchers. The findings indicate that lutein not only decreased the number of tumors in the breast but also stopped the development of new cancerous cells. The lutein from marigolds has been shown to have health benefits even in limited dietary quantities, according to researchers.
2.Eczema and Allergies
Eczema, bruising, and allergic reactions are all treated with marigold. This flower is often used by people with oily skin to get rid of their oily complexion. They do this by applying a wet fresh flower to their face and then washing it with water. Marigold flower is also useful for protecting the eyes and preventing eye disorders such as cataracts and others.
3.Helps reduce hemorrhoid pain
Since marigold treatment facilitates tissue healing and minimizes swelling, many people find that applying it topically to the anal or genital area helps with hemorrhoids and anal tears (also known as anal fissures). For this, the yellow petals are made into a paste and then applied to the affected site. It will shrink the swollen veins that cause pain and swelling.
4.Boosting up the immune system
Marigold extracts are particularly effective in treating the effects of the common cold, including pneumonia, coughs, fevers, and sore throats. It significantly increases the body’s immune system effectiveness.
5.Wound healing
Marigold has long been used to aid in wound healing. Marigolds offer relief when rubbed on wounds, scrapes, and sore skin. When researchers in Brazil studied marigolds on rats, they discovered that one of the mechanisms for wound healing is their ability to stimulate the development of new skin tissue and blood vessels that feed the skin. Marigold is also said to have aphrodisiac properties, according to researchers.
