Here are some of the benefits of having an online presence:
- It helps you develop ideas and learn new things. Throughout the process of writing a blog you learn how to take notes of your ideas and evolve them into article. You become a better communicator and journalist, because sometimes you are simply putting your thoughts onto a page and expressing yourself in your online journal. Your writing and researching skills advance and your knowledge expands.
- It helps with your professional life. Nowadays you can expect potential employers to google you and your blog acts like your online CV and lets them get to know you. It can help you stand out from other candidates and show how professional you are. If you have a business it can help you control your image and stand out from competition, attract potential new clients or sponsors.
- It grows your network. People can read your articles and get in touch because they are curious about the same topics, invite you to networking events, parties, fundraisers, maybe even job interviews, or they can simply connect you to someone who has similar interests. Gaining exposure is important for getting feedback and sharing thoughts and ideas, but also for starting important conversations and helping others.
- You expose yourself to a lot of interesting opportunities. From getting invited to speak at conferences, getting featured in various publications, to getting job opportunities, helping people or even becoming friends with people around the world and travelling to meet them, you are essentially creating new experiences for yourself and making an impact online.
- You can earn from it. Monetize your blog and you can have a side hustle or a full-time online business, depending on why you started a blog in the first place and how much of yourself you want to invest in it. Some people start writing online to share their hobbies, passion and knowledge about certain topics and some start it sell products and services to ears extra money.
