Tourism is the act and method of spending time away from home in search of leisure, relaxation, and enjoyment while using commercial services.

Tourism as we know it originated in the early twenty-first century, international tourism had become one of the world’s most important economic activities. It’s impact was felt from the Arctic to Antarctica, and as a result has received a lot of scholarly and personal interest in tourism and particularly in the history of tourism.

In fact, the history of tourism predates the coinage of the term “tourist” at the end of the 18th century. Organized therapy and travel is in effect a Western tradition.

About Kerala:

Kerala is located on the Indian subcontinent’s southwestern tip. It has a long tradition of art and cultural heritage, as well as international trade. Kerala state boasts the highest literacy rate in India, and is known for its accomplishments in education, health, gender equality, social justice, and law and order. Aside from that, the state has the country’s lowest child mortality rate.

Known as God’s own country – tourists from all around the world come to enjoy the scenic beauty and the culture, food and traditions.

Why is Kerala known as God’s own country?

There are a number of reasons for this. Namely, its beautiful beaches, savory spices, pristine nature, cultural creativity, backwaters and wildlife and finally, timeless traditions.

Kerala has many famous attractions, and a few are worth mentioning. Munnar’s hill station; Thekkady’s tiger reserve, the largest in India; Kovalam’s beach; Alapuzha’s backwaters and, Athirapilly’s waterfalls.

The mouthwatering cuisine of Kerala is very famous all around the world. Whether it is the breakfast or dinner items, the food is so diverse, healthy and rich. The variety of food is vast.

Vegetarian or non-vegetarian option are available for all. There is always a wide range of options to chose and eat from, including the different types of snacks. For breakfast, many opt for puttu and kadala curry, which is an ideal choice for many.

If you’re wondering what puttu is, it’s a combination of steamed rice and coconut cakes. In Kerala, this is a common and traditional breakfast. And kadala is the chickpeas.  Also parotta and beef is a deadly food combination, a favorite for many. Kerala sadya and Thalassery biriyani are also famous dishes in the region.

Tourism in Kerala:

There are multiple different types of terrains to visit while in Kerala. Forests and wildlife, beaches, backwater, eco-friendly spots, hill stations, ayurvedic spaces and finally, cultural locations.

The above mentioned comprise the major types of tourism in the state.  Tourists are generally attracted to these locations and there are regular travelers in these locations. Travellers often return with families and friends in order to share their experience with them.

To prove itself to India and the world, Kerala tourism department won many awards – UNWTO (United Nations World Tourism Organization) accessible tourism destination award 2019 , National Tourism Awards 2017-18 & many more.

The cultural activities of Kerala differs from one city to another. Thrissur, Kerala is known as the cultural capital of Kerala. Trivandrum is the official capital of the state. Onam is a very famous cultural event celebrated by all people across the state.

Finally, Kerala stands as one of the finest place on earth for everyone to visit. Its natural rich environment along with the food continue to attract numerous tourists annually. It serves as a well-balanced trip for sure, so it is a must visit place for those who want a balanced trip.
