Buenos Aires

In the article ¨Buenos Aires. Part I¨ we were able to explore some of the most beautiful and iconic places in this amazing city in Latin America.  In this article, we are going to know five more places.

Kirchner Cultural Center (CCK)

The Kirchner Cultural Center is a space dedicated to art, exhibitions, concerts, and other shows dedicated to art. It is the largest cultural center in Latin America. Originally the building was the Central Post Office of the nation, it was inaugurated as a cultural center in 2015.  It houses a large concert hall, known as “the blue whale” for its oval and curved shape. The dome in the center is glazed, it retains its original shape, but with the glass, at night you can see the lights that they project, so it makes a wonderfully eclectic mix.

National Museum of Fine Arts

With a superb facade, it is one of the most important museums in Latin America. Under the roof of this Argentine museum, there are approximately 12,000 pieces of art. From its foundation, it was conceived as an eclectic museum, designed to be the house art of all times and all styles. Featuring works by renowned artists such as Renoir, Manet, Degas, Van Gogh, Pollock, Modigliani, Kandinsky, and many others. There is an online collection that can be accessed from anywhere in the world.

Just a few steps from the museum is the Law School of the University of Buenos Aires (UBA), an imposing neoclassical building. Also, the metallic sculpture Floralis Génerica, which is a flower that closes and opens according to hours of the day. They are two interesting points to visit in this vibrant city.

Puerto Madero

This beautiful neighborhood of the city on the banks of the Río de la Plata is currently full of restaurants, bars, and places to have a good time. Initially, it was a port, so the place was full of silos, sheds, and warehouses. Some of this architecture is still preserved, blending in with modern skyscrapers. The beautiful Puente de la Mujer, by famous Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava, marks this iconic Buenos Aires landmark like a postcard.

The Rosedal of Palermo

The Rosedal is located within the Tres de Febrero Park, an area with Bellé époque architecture, there are 18,000 roses, surrounded by a lake. During June, the roses are pruned and donated to the neighbors who wish to attend, this on the occasion of the beginning of winter. This rose garden has sculptures of important poets, known as the Garden of Poets.

Near this place, is the Galileo Galilei Planetarium, a space dedicated to the dissemination and knowledge of astronomy, with entrance to the general public.

Recoleta Cemetery

The resting place of the political and historical figures of the country and also, of the richest families in the country. Located in one of the wealthiest areas of Buenos Aires, it contains tombs of renowned personalities of the country. Among them Eva Perón, the famous Argentine first lady. It is one of the most visited points in the city.  The famous and exuberant mausoleums are the reason for a visit by tourists, both national and international. Some of the mausoleums have been designed by famous architects, some have been declared Historical Monuments of the Argentine Nation.

A few steps from the Recoleta Cemetery is the Recoleta Cultural Center. A place destined for art. Spaces to read, see exhibitions, attend cultural events, mainly dedicated to adolescents and young people. It is an ideal space to be visited.

We have concluded the visit to the vibrant city of Buenos Aires, there are still many streets and corners to visit. I hope you are encouraged to visit this beautiful city in the south of the American continent.
