Ophelia: The Woman’s Inaudible Screams

Hamlet, which entered the literary scene in the 17th century and marked every century after it, is Shakespeare’s most exhibited and long tragedy. Its original name is also known as The Tragical History of Hamlet Prince of Denmark.

The play, which takes four hours to perform, depicts how Prince Hamlet took revenge on his uncle Claudius, who married his mother queen Gertrude after killing his father. Ophelia, who takes the role of Hamlet’s lover in the work was silenced and suppressed by her father, brother, and lover throughout the play, and she was driven to death by going mad from her love and passion.

The beautiful Ophelia, who ended up drowning in a river thought to have been created by Shakespeare to be the voice of the woman repressed in the society of Elizabethan theater. Today, the beautiful Ophelia is still the screams of the woman who cannot run her own life in different parts of the world on theater stages.
