HOW DID THE FACT ARISE?

THE CONGRESS MASK

President Martin Vizcarra constitutionally fulfilled his job duties in order to contain the pandemic and begin to reactivate the economy due to a sharp reduction in jobs as a result of the current health crisis. However, the congressional inspection committee led by congressman Edgar Alarcon, who belongs to the UPP political party, presented an impeachment motion against Vizcarra before the full congress for an alleged improper hiring of an artist named Richard Cisneros, who was paid an exorbitant sum of money and, in addition, through said character, audios were revealed that exhibited certain irregularities of President Vizcarra in his management; This motion was not approved in the end by the Plenary Assembly Congress.

After two months, Jose Vega Antonio, who belongs to the same party, presented a second impeachment motion for alleged bribes received by the President of the Republic; events that occurred during his time as governor of the southern region of Moquegua (2011-2014). For this reason, President Vizcarra is in a preliminary investigation before the prosecution. Furthermore, an aspiring effective collaborator appeared and wanted to reduce his sentence by accusing Martin Vizcarra, that is to say, he was in a stage without corroboration of the imputed. Almost the entire population of Peru was confident that this would not happen, as the political leaders assured not to support the impeachment motion; in the end they did not honor their word, except for Partido Morado. The rest made distribution according to their particular interests in order to approve the impeachment motion. On Monday November 9, the President of the Republic went to present his defense and defend his position. However, The Congress never paid attention to his statements because it had already decided to vacate him, affirming a “permanent moral incapacity” of his person. And in the end, as expected, 105 congressmen approved his impeachment. The Congress of the Republic removed Martín Vizcarra as president of Peru. As a result, on November 10, Manuel Merino, who was the president of Congress, assumed the presidency.

The congress is mostly corrupt and the population is not willing to accept Manuel Merino as president. This evidently generated the social outbreak and the population, mostly made up of young people, took to the streets with the aim of not recognizing Manuel Merino as president, much less accepting a congress that only looks after its own interests, ignoring the quality of life of the Peruvians. Consequently, this regrettable decision by Congress affects the economy of the country.

HOW DOES IMPEACHMENT AFFECT THE ECONOMY OF PERU?

The crisis caused by COVID-19 added to the political crisis would accentuate a greater increase in poverty to levels of 10 years ago and a decline in different social indicators.

A change of cabinet would reduce per capita GDP growth by 2.4 percentage points according to the IMF.

For the same reason, the current scenario could discourage key private investment for the recovery of the economy, employment and income; leaving thousands of Peruvians without a livelihood to survive. Did the congress think about the population? Or did they just think of their own convenience?

With almost 1 million infected with the virus and more than 35 thousand deaths. Peru is the country with the most deaths per capita from coronavirus in the world.

Peru is in the midst of political storms and is currently suffering one of the worst crises. It is relevant to note that in the last 4 years, Peru has had 3 presidents and the last 6 leaders have been involved in corruption scandals.

THE POPULATION’S LOVE FOR THE COUNTRY IS GREATER.

JUSTICE AND TENSION IN THE STREETS: YOUNG LEADERS INVADE THE STREETS TO HOLD PEACEFUL DEMONSTRATIONS IN ORDER TO OVERCOME CORRUPTION AND DECLARE THE REJECTION OF THE GOVERNMENT OF MERINO.

Thousands of Peruvians are participating in various protests against the removal of Martin Vizcarra and the swearing-in of the cabinet of interim President Manuel Merino. Protests emerged for five days in different cities demonstrating in favor of the change of The Constitution.

Young people took the bull by the antlers and made acts of courage by showing their love for the country and the rejection of corruption. Crying out slogans such as “Peru woke up”, “Merino is not my President” “This Congress does not represent me” “There can be no peace without a new justice.” It is worth mentioning, the population has been subject to article 46 of the National Constitution of Peru, of which it mentions:

“No one owes obedience to a usurper of a government, nor to those who assume public functions in violation of the Constitution and the laws. The civilian population has the right of insurgency in defense of the constitutional order. The acts of those who employ public functions are null “.

Peru Protestas

Nevertheless, all this was violently repressed by the police, throwing tear gas and pellets in the face of the young people and carrying out the same acts from a helicopter; As a result of this situation there are many injured and of these there is one seriously. Also, one of the protesters received a pellet in the eye and is at risk of losing his sight.

On November 14, during the mass demonstrations in Lima, there were violent clashes between the demonstrators and the security forces, who repressed the protests with the use of tear gas and pellets.

Hours later, the admission to two different hospitals in Lima of two men aged 25 and 24 who died of gunshot wounds was reported. The prosecution regretted his death and said that it is carrying out an investigation.

The Health Ministry reported 102 injured treated in hospitals after the protests and said 63 people are hospitalized.

After this tragic news, numerous voices began to request the resignation of Merino and the situation derived in a severe political crisis with the resignation of the majority of the cabinet ministers.

It is extremely important that the world is aware of the situation that Peru is going through. A country that is dominated by people without loyalty, leaving an entire people adrift.
